Tiyul with the Tanach Program
“For Gd your Lrd is bringing you to a good land, a land with flowing streams, springs, and underground water emanating from valley and mountain. A land of wheat, barley, figs and pomegranates; a land of oil olives and date honey.”(Devarim 8, 8-9) The centrality of Eretz Yisrael to our religion is unquestionable. Whether it be Mitzvot Hateluyot BaAretz or the overall infusion of meaning injected to all the commandments of the Torah To achieve this appreciation let us learn more about the land, come to know it well in its breadth and width, and to use those experiences to achieve a greater love for it ,as well. The reestablishment of sovereignty in our homeland is none other than miraculous. To acquire this appreciation we must learn the history of our people, see the sites, live the moments, and recognize the self-sacrifice a great Jewish leaders and visionaries, as well as,” every day “people, who rose to the occasion when called upon by Jewish Destiny.
At Midreshet Modiin we strongly feel that being in Eretz Yisrael demands living the Land. We strongly feel that part of our educational goals and responsibility is to garner that appreciation, and build that love of the Land, by traversing its paths and walking in the footsteps of our forefathers. קום התהלך בארץ לארכה ולרחבה כי לך אתננו )בראשית יג,יז( .
We thus have established a unique and singular Tiyul with the Tanach Program. Working within a triweekly rotation, we initiate the learning of a topic with the Tanach and the relative historical background. We continue in the second and third week touring those sites which are associated with the module being studied. The students will be taught the chronology of Sifrei Tanach and history as it is reflected in different areas of our beautiful Gd-given land.
Our 'Tiyul with the Tanach' program is unique in that it meets on a weekly basis and systematically teaches you the Tanach and the history of the land throughout the millennium until the miraculous rebirth of the modern state of Israel. We will then visit the sites, bringing your lessons to life, while familiarizing you with the width and breath of Eretz Yisrael.
